As a wedding photographer, I’m always on the lookout for venues that have a unique style and are perfect from a photography perspective, and The Inn at Mattei’s Tavern in Los Olivos is just that. A historic landmark with a modern touch, this venue is filled with rustic, California charm- making it a dream setting for a wedding.
Originally built in the 1880s as a stagecoach stop, Mattei’s Tavern now stands as a stunning blend of old-world character and contemporary luxury. The whitewashed buildings, historic water tower, and garden setting create such a unique aesthetic that feels both refined and relaxed. The interiors are warm and inviting, with a mix of vintage design—perfect for couples who want a wedding that feels cool yet laid back for their guests. It’s always so nice for our couples and their loved ones to stay on-site at the resort.
One of my favorite parts was the quaint coffee shop inside the main building, it had such a cool dark and moody vibe. Attached to it was a sitting area filled with eclectic furniture and decor, perfect for enjoying your coffee and soaking up the historic vibes!
Ever since visiting last summer, Mattei’s Tavern has been on my dream wish list to visit again and hopefully photograph a wedding at one day! If you’re getting married in the Los Olivos or Santa Barbara areas, I would love for you to get in touch!
